Work that Works: Indigenous Literacy Foundation Rebrand

The Indigenous Literacy Foundation does more than distribute books. It champions culture, connection and confidence through storytelling.

When Cause/Affect was invited to work on rebranding ILF, we knew it had to reflect the heart of their work — not just what they do, but why they do it.

We know that literacy and storytelling opens doors and spans generations. It’s central to culture, to community, and to empowerment.

With this guiding us, our concept Be Part of the Story became the brand’s new creative foundation.

From stories from thousands of years old, to stories that haven’t even been written yet, the common thread in ILF’s story is keeping young minds engaged.

Through a combination of exploration, expression, and emotion, our stories are a bridge to another place, a future not yet written, and a past that grounds us and gives us our sense of self.

When a story feels like home, it opens the door to learning, identity and imagination. Literacy becomes more than a skill, it becomes a way of knowing, of belonging, of stepping into the world with pride.

This project was shaped by many hands. We worked closely with the ILF team and three remarkable artists — Wanirr, Rose and Ruby — who all came through ILF programs. Their artwork and input helped ground the visual identity in lived experience and cultural integrity.

We’re proud of what we created together. But more than that, we’re proud to support an organisation that continues to open up space for First Nations stories old and new to be shared, celebrated and passed on.
